claudia: (via britticisms) what the hell.  I have silver shoes similar to these but I would NEVER look that good in them.  Is it because my day-to-day consists of manila envelopes and macaroni salad leftovers and I am just not fabulous enough?  Or because I look like I’m doing the funky chicken at my cousin’s wedding when I try to dance like MIA.
 Could be both.

Mannequin was on Encore tonight, maybe in celebration of the big Sex and the City premiere? (btw thanks, Mary Rambin, for countless pictures of SJP’s back muscles.) This movie is so deliciously ’80s it’s unreal. I don’t think I got half of the jokes when I was little. Like: HOLLYWOOD WAS GAY! Damn, missed that one.

So…why didn’t they play it back to back with Girls Just Want to Have Fun? For an ultimate the-eighties-were-simpler,-puffy-shoulder-padded-times experience.

totally sunburned

Today:

I took three walks.  Well, the first one was a run, and I ran into a parade route going towards the center of town.  So then I ran home, and walked back to the parade to catch the tail end of it, ended up walking the exact same route I had just ran.

Then I walked with my sis and her fiance through Mt. Auburn Cemetery up to this tower that has the greatest view of everything ever.  We ate popsicles at my house afterwards.

 Tonight:

I made  dinner for two: Kilbasa on hot dog buns with mustard & ketchup, macaroni salad with celery and an orange pepper, baked beans, and potato chips.  Nice American dinner, huh?

I noticed my sunburn after dinner.  They never seem to come out right away.

 Right now:

Drinking tap water with a squeeze of fresh lemon and I can’t believe how refreshing it is.  I love almost-summer.

Does anyone else find when watching movies they grew up on (Reality Bites in this case) that even if you are now older than the actors were when they made the film, they will always look older than you in your own eyes?
Did I say that right?
Also, am I the only person who constantly looks up the ages of actors when watching a movie to see if they’re older/younger than me?

Blond hair the way God meant, blond like Clorox sunshine. A caviar body, if you like your caviar lacquered in barbecue sauce. Breasts like plucked guinea hens, undercooked and overstuffed. And those legs, like those of every coed in every early-80s corduroy skirt, waving across the quad at the guy just behind you. Cheerleader legs. Jackknifing legs that split the air like seesaws. In the Dukes of Hazzard music video, those legs are in cowboy boots, moving like joysticks across your screen. She’s got that dumb-fox high-maintenance pout. She’s got her own money: She can buy your house just to use the toilet. She’s one of those easy-bake celebrities, up from Abilene, Texas, with a fizzy pop beat on church-choir training wheels. She’s hot as fresh milk and has an okay voice, and the rest just happens around her. Luck on Red Bull.

Yesterday morning I was on my way to work, and I was happy the sun wasn’t out, because I knew that no one was going to be at my office all day and i could just sit and stare into space and try to ignore any metaphoric chains attaching me to my desk, and the sun being out on a day like that kind of kills me.

I was in my favorite cafe in Harvard Square, putting milk in my coffee, and this song came on…and I felt glued to the floor, like I had to listen to it. It felt like the perfect song for that moment in my life.

(Haven’t posted here in a while.)

This probably puts me in the same camp as a certain type of lady, but I can’t wait for this. Will watch several IMPORTANT documentaries to offset my movie karma.
Oh, and why waste time critiquing Carrie’s dress when girlfriend’s hair looks so fabulous?
